Use Menu Wizard in chat
Opening ChatGPT does not connect Menu Wizard automatically. Start with Connect below.
Connect
Connect your Menu Wizard account in your chat app's connection settings. Availability differs by chat app and account.
- Sign in to Menu Wizard and complete your kitchen setup.
- Enable Menu Wizard in your chat app, then follow its sign-in and authorization steps using your own account.
- Start a conversation with Menu Wizard enabled. Never paste passwords, API keys, or verification links into chat.
Use Menu Wizard to show my saved food preferences. Don't change anything.
What can Menu Wizard help me do? Explain what changes my account and what needs my approval.
More examples and limitations
If the chat cannot access Menu Wizard, check the connection and sign in again. Store-cart access is a separate connection in Groceries.
Recipes
Ask the chat to save a recipe-page or YouTube URL, find saved recipes, read ingredients and directions, or put a recipe in Saved for later. If your chat client can read an image or PDF, it can extract a complete recipe and send the structured recipe to Menu Wizard; the file itself is not uploaded to Menu Wizard by this workflow. You can also paste a complete recipe or ask the chat to create a new one using your food preferences.
Save this recipe to my Menu Wizard library: [paste the recipe or YouTube link]. Show me the saved recipe link.
Find my recipes with chicken that take 30 minutes or less. Don't change anything.
More examples and limitations
Show the recipes I saved for later, and the ingredients and steps for the one I choose.
Save this recipe for later. Don't schedule it yet.
Change my saved Lemon herb pasta recipe from four servings to six. Update the recipe itself, not a planned meal, and show me the recipe link.
Add one teaspoon of smoked paprika to my saved stew and update the appropriate cooking step. Keep everything else unchanged.
The video timing on my saved Hearty Chicken Stew is wrong—the first link starts after cooking is underway. Retry the video alignment from the source. Do not guess timestamps or change the recipe.
The chat can update an existing saved recipe's default servings. It can also correct recipe details, add or remove ingredients, edit ordered directions and apply exact video timestamps you provide. Menu Wizard creates a new version of the same recipe, validates complete ingredient-to-step mappings and keeps the prior version in history; it does not create a duplicate or silently change meals already on the calendar. For an imported YouTube recipe with poor automatic timing, ask it to retry alignment: Menu Wizard re-reads verified source evidence, preserves recipe content and user-entered timestamps, and leaves unsupported steps unlinked instead of guessing. The chat can also search personal folders and tags and remove a recipe from a folder without deleting it. Folder creation, adding recipes to folders, sharing, deleting recipes and cooking-mode controls remain in Menu Wizard; they are not currently exposed as chat actions.
Remove this recipe from my Quick Meals folder, but keep the recipe in my library.
Imported recipes should remain faithful to their source. If you want a change, ask for a separate adaptation. Video links and step timing depend on actual source evidence, not guessed timestamps. If an import needs more information, the chat should explain what is missing and ask for the written recipe, a readable image, or the specific dish. A processing message does not mean the recipe has been saved; wait for the confirmed recipe link.
Plan
The chat can schedule an existing recipe for a specific day, meal and serving count. It can also read a week you identify and change the serving count for one planned meal; Menu Wizard then recalculates that meal's grocery quantities without rewriting the source recipe. Scheduling and serving updates do not buy groceries, require a store check, or confirm stock or dietary safety. Moving or removing calendar meals and setting recurring meals remain in Menu Wizard.
Schedule Lemon herb pasta for Wednesday dinner, serving six. Ask which week if the date is unclear, and show me the confirmation.
Change Wednesday's Lemon herb pasta to six servings. Show me the meal you changed.

Before I decide, check this recipe against my selected store for pickup. Show ingredients that need review. Don't schedule it or choose products yet.
Store compatibility checks are optional previews. You can schedule a meal without waiting for one; the weekly grocery workflow is separate. Ask the chat to read your saved restrictions and call out concerns before suggesting or scheduling meals. Do not treat a suggestion as a product-label allergy check.
Groceries
Ask for product options, then review the items and quantities in Menu Wizard. Your shopping list comes from planned meals. Choose a store in Groceries first. Checkout happens at the store; chat does not place an order.
Prepare my selected store's shopping list for this week's planned meals. Show recipe names and anything that needs review. Don't approve products or send anything to the store.
Help me choose City Market products for my planned meals. Read my food preferences and recipe directions when needed. Show real brands, package sizes and counts; leave uncertain ingredients for my review. Don't send anything to City Market.
More examples and limitations
Review the shopping list at this Menu Wizard link: [paste the groceries page URL]. Show what is already selected and what still needs attention. Don't change anything.
Product suggestions must match the ingredient and your restrictions. A whole vegetable may work if you can prepare it at home, but a different food or cut is not a substitute without your approval. Leave uncertain ingredients unselected. Skip, restore or add extra items in Menu Wizard.
Check product labels, package amounts and availability before approving a selection. Search results do not establish allergy safety or live stock. No matching result does not necessarily mean the store is out of stock. If the required package count is uncertain, confirm it yourself.
Preferences
The chat can read your confirmed food profile, draft and profile history. It can save explicitly requested edits to household size, allergies, exclusions and cooking preferences in a draft, then confirm the profile when you ask. It must not invent allergies or infer new hard exclusions. You can also edit your profile directly in Account.
Show my Menu Wizard food preferences and household serving size. Don't change anything.
Set my household serving size to six in my food-profile draft. Keep all other preferences unchanged and show me the changes before confirming.
More examples and limitations
Confirm the food-profile changes we just reviewed.
Food preferences guide suggestions; they do not establish that a packaged product is safe. Check labels and preparation requirements yourself, especially for allergies.
Your control
Reading recipes, preferences and a prepared shopping list does not change them. Importing or saving recipes, changing a saved recipe or its serving yield, retrying video alignment, scheduling meals, editing a food-profile draft, removing a recipe from a folder, preparing/searching a shopping session and choosing products can change data in Menu Wizard. Ask for no changes when you only want a review.
- Choosing a grocery product in chat saves it as an approved Menu Wizard selection. It does not put it in the retailer's cart or purchase it.
- The chat currently has no tool for sending a cart to City Market/Kroger. Open the returned review link, check the selected products and counts, and explicitly click Add selected products to the store cart in Menu Wizard.
- Only approved products are sent. Unresolved or unapproved ingredients are omitted, so a partial cart may not cover every planned recipe.
- Confirm the actual cart, availability, totals, substitutions and pickup/delivery details on the store's site. Complete checkout there; Menu Wizard does not place an order.
- If a transfer is uncertain, inspect the store cart before retrying to avoid duplicates. If authorization expires, reconnect the retailer account in Menu Wizard.
Troubleshooting
- Connection required: authenticate Menu Wizard in your chat client's connection settings using your own account. Reconnect if the session has expired or belongs to a different account. Store-cart access is a separate connection in Groceries.
- No selected store: choose the location in Menu Wizard, then prepare the chat shopping list again. Tell the chat whether you want pickup or delivery.
- Import still processing or needs information: ask the chat to check the pending result, or supply the missing recipe details. Don't assume it saved until it confirms with a recipe link.
- No useful product: ask the chat to try a broader same-food catalog search and show actual results. Never accept an invented product or a changed food just to fill the list.
- List or product changed: have the chat reopen the current shopping session before choosing again. A stale list is not safe to approve.
- Long matching wait: browser matching and chat-led matching are different paths. First-time store/model work can take time; ask for status without repeating a write. Existing saved grocery sessions keep their old results until a new session is prepared.
Use Menu Wizard to review my current shopping list. Explain unresolved ingredients, don't invent matches, and don't change my selections.
